Post Why Stockcar Fury 2? Reply with quote
First off, there are several reasons I have decided to drop NR2003 for SCF2, but none of them will include bashing, slamming, or otherwise bad-mouthing any game. NR2003 was a huge part of FTSR and my personal sim racing experience. It, along with Nascar Heat, was the foundation of my sim racing career and was what I focused on when working on Stockcar Fury. I wanted to create a fun simulator on the next level. I honestly feel that rFactor 2 (when it is released) will be the new standard of online racing and to prepare for that, I have created Stockcar Fury on the Gmotor game engine. This will allow for transfer to rFactor 2 relatively easily. While focusing on the present, I have also tried to plan for the future not only for Stockcar Fury, but for FTSR as well.

Now about Stockcar Fury 2, I have completely revamped the physics. It drives nothing like the old SCF. With many hours of work, I have finally gotten the physics to perform like you would expect an actual stockcar to perfrom. I received a good bit of criticism about the fact that the cars feel tight all of the time in the old game. This problem has been rectified thanks to many hours and days of work on the physics. I even think those who race iRacing will be able to appreciate this new release.

Also, you will notice in the new release that setups have a profound effect on the way the car drives. In the old game, setups didnt effect to car too much, however this is not the case in SCF2. You will feel every tweak in the car. Shocks also have become very important. This is by design. In NASCAR, teams work and work to perfect the setups of the car. The setups will be a critical part of your experience in SCF2 and will be a major factor of your success. It does take time, but the true sim racer inside of me like the challenge of perfecting a setup.

I also believe that switching between games will be easier with the new release. Naturally, I really stand behind what I have created, but in the end it is up to you, the racers, to make your minds up, and I look forward to the feedback to continue to improve the simulation.

In the end, I want to invite everyone to atleast give the game an honest try and, if you like it, join us for league racing on Monday nights at 9pm EST. When I say honest try, I don't mean run 3 laps and say you don't like it. I mean pick a track, work on a setup, and see what you think after a getting the car driving the way you like. I think many will be impressed.

In the end, the reason I switched to SCF from NR2003 is because we need something new, fresh, and free. Its time to take the next step in sim racing and I am ready to move. SCF was created for the sim racers and FTSR was created to provide a place for sim racers to enjoy the sim. So we hope you will join us in enjoying this sim and we look forward to having som fun this season in FTSR.

Nice to hear from you again, Joe. I will get them up today and actually the game should be put up when I get home today. If anyone wants to run some and practice tonight, I'll be on.
