After being forced to miss Atlanta due to work, Macklin eagerly awaits his first race back in the NR2k3 simulation in nearly a year.
[quote:27kf1f2f]I was really bummed to miss Atlanta, it's a fun track to race on. The racing is always good there. That being said, Richmond has always been one of my favorite tracks. It's the track where I got my first FTSR Grand National Series victory, so there's some history for me at this track. Hopefully we can get all the rust off before Sunday, and make a solid run in the race Sunday night. Christine should also be making her debut in FTSR, so the excitement level is picking up around the Macklin Motorsports shop.[/quote:27kf1f2f]
It was also announced that Christine's paint scheme for this Sunday's race would be unveiled later this week.
With an exciting, and eventful race for the series opener at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the inagural 2012 Winter Series for FTSR, Joe Ahlin isn't as happy as would be anticipated for coming home with a 5th place finish. With the absence of newly signed driver Brandon Elders, Ahlin was on his own tonight with alittle help from long time friend and former teammate Micheal Blackner, aswell as Bryan Bliss. Here's what Ahlin had to say post race at Atlanta;
[i:lwc3o2c9]" The car was alright, we struggled majorly on the long run with our setup unlike strong front runner TJ Bartel. With the absence of Brandon Elders I was really on my own tonight for setup advice and had to go off previous information we gathered here over two years ago and with alittle help from Bryan Bliss, and my former teammate Micheal Blackner.
I really wished I could have started the night off a bit better, but got caught up in a mess with Adrian Silberman there early in the race, while starting in the back. I feel the incident could have been avoided if we would have qualified upfront, but we had mechanical failures that put us in the back. After smacking the wall and knocking the right toe out of the car, it just wasn't the same from what we had in practice and it was a fight to handle with from there on. However this is a learning experience, and I look forward to moving on into Richmond next weekend."[/i:lwc3o2c9]
Ahlin currently sits in 6th in the FTSR Winter Series points.
The night was two extremes for Adrenaline. The #2 team runs well and gets the win while the #12 team had a strong car but had a rough outing. Travis got loose off 4 and went in the grass, which was a setback, but easy to overcome. Then, Travis encountered a series of timing/scoring glitches on pitroad which ended all hopes for a good finish. All in all it was encouraging because both cars ran strong in the engine and handling departments. It looks like Adrenaline is up to speed with the top notch competition here at FTSR. Next week, we'll see how the short track part of the program stacks up, and after this week, we are optimistic for good runs out of both teams.
